I'm Katharina Ücker, an artist from Lörrach, Germany, creating abstract paintings inspired by nature and faith, each telling a story of courage and trust. My art is a reflection of personal growth, encouraging you to take courageous steps in your very own journey.

Here’s a special treat I haven’t shared with you so far: One of my favorite styles of commission art work is to make paintings with a personalized text for someone.

I’ve created a couple paintings for newborn babies - with the name of the child or a bible verse specifically chosen for it. It is such a privilege to get to be part of such a special season in people’s lives and create an artwork that reflects what matters to them.

THIS IS ME - Hi and welcome here! My name is Katharina. I am a lover of creativity, of taking courageous steps into the unknown and encouraging others while doing so myself.

I live in the very south of Germany in Lörrach - right at the border to France and Basel. Here I work as a teacher, have my small studio corner at home where I create my artwork and I pour my heart into a local church that my husband and I go to.

I started my art business in 2023 and it’s been a journey of beautiful and challenging ups and downs since then. There have been amazing seasons where I’ve had a lot of capacity for creating and there have been seasons where it feels like life simply happens and there is no space to paint. But every time I find that space again and get to create new beauty to bring into the world.

My heart is that my artwork reminds you of who you are, that it brings you hope and courage while inspiring you to take steps into the unknown. To me artwork is so much more than just colors and shapes - it’s like a mirror that shows me a glimpse of who I can be, of what life can feel like. In being reminded of that I find courage to take steps forward and bring new colors into my life, thus creating the life I’ve always hoped for.

No matter where you are today, I want to encourage you to take a deep breath, to know there’s someone greater who’s got you and that the day will come where you feel like you’re coming alive again.

The Lord is so good and kind, he will never give up on us, he will never stop reminding us of who we are and he will always give us space. In this we may rest.

I recently received this beautiful package. In it were some postcards and an amazing artwork showing a surfer girl. This artwork from my dear friend and amazing creative @oceans_forests really spoke to me. I saw it and immediately felt: this piece reminds me of who I am.

These are some of my goals for September👆School starts again on Monday, so it will once again be a challenge to find a good balance between art and teaching. I really enjoy teaching, yet I also want to create and cherish moments of rest and peace and embrace this next season.

It feels so rewarding to be finished with my ABUNDANCE series. It’s been a beautiful process of deciding to see the beauty around me and being grateful for the little things in life and step into an abundance mindset rather than having a poverty mindset. Honestly, I’m not at all there yet, but I’m on the journey. And taking steps into the right direction is sometimes all that matters, right? So let’s give ourselves some grace wherever we are on this journey called life.

Hello from Italy where we are surrounded by amazing olive trees everywhere!! It’s so stunningly beautiful and inspiring. I absolutely love the shades of green and the shapes of the trees. There is so much beauty in the “crookedness“. I love how true beauty is hidden in the imperfection. Always remember: things don’t have to perfect in order to be beautiful.

A B U N D A N C E - I believe how I look at the world around me makes a huge difference: I can choose to see the beauty, the richness, the kindness in this world and be grateful for all that I am blessed with OR I can set my focus on what I lack, what I don’t have and desperately want.

For me it’s not always easy to walk in a mindset of abundance. But the more I’m learning to be grateful and the more I get to experience God as a God of abundance, the more I’m learning to rest in knowing there is abundance for me. It has something so beautiful and so freeing to simply receive.

A few days ago my husband brought me the most beautiful huge bouquet of flowers. To me that was the perfect picture of experiencing what abundance truly is: it is lavishing kindness and beauty that I have access to. I get to enjoy and rest and take it all in and let go of my worries. There is someone else who provides. And in knowing that I find peace.

This is the piece I’m working on right now. It’s belongs to my abundance series and is one artwork across two canvasses.

I love the depth of the greens and how they are playing out. Love the lighting and the dance between shadows and light. Feels so peaceful. I’m excited to see where the journey with this artwork takes me!
